Group Description:

This is an 8-week, 1.5 hour group-class that is practical, supportive, and interactive.  Classes are held in Los Gatos, CA and are offered three times a year.

The program is designed for co-parents who are divorcing, divorced, or never married and living apart.  Co-parents learn how children at different ages respond to separation and divorce; what they can do to help their children reduce stress reactions associated with family changes; learn how to effectively communicate with one another on behalf of their children; learn how to manage anger; and learn how to work through grief.  Parents receive a workbook, handouts, and a variety of resources.  Teaching tools include video demonstrations, small group discussion, and role play.

Thursday morning and Thursday evening sessions are available.  If both co-parents attend this program, one parent will be enrolled in the morning session, and the other parent will be enrolled in the evening session.

A Saturday morning support group is available at no extra charge to program participants.

Please go to "Groups and Workshops" or phone Wendy at 408-355-3532 to learn more about the program.

Therapist: Wendy Taylor (Lic: 50165)
Professional Statement:

Sometimes we encounter situations that bring us sorrow and distress.  We may be in a hurtful relationship or we may lose someone we love to illness, death, or to choice.  We may need to make a life-changing, gut-wrenching decision but we're stuck at the fork in the road.  Finding peace of mind and establishing wellness may mean forging an alliance with a therapist who redirects attention away from shattered assumptions towards an experience of hope, strength, stability, and recovery.

If I am your therapist, I am here for you at the crossroads, just as you are now.  I am present for you as you explore thoughts and feelings, make empowering decisions, and realize your potential for change.  I will encourage you to safely experiment with new thoughts, practice skills, do more of what works well, and have faith in yourself.

Clients are adults coping with stressful relationships; adults juggling overwhelming responsibility; separated or divorced co-parents; stepcouples-stepparents managing divided loyalties; parents encountering their children's challenging behaviors; military couples-families adjusting to the stress of deployment and coming home; suicide loss survivors, and survivors of partner abuse or spiritual group abuse.
