This group has been meeting for over eight years, and is designed to enrich your personal and professional life in a safe environment. Learn more about the healing power of group interaction, increase your interpersonal skills and enhance your self-awareness as an individual and as a therapist.

*This group is designed for therapists who are interested in working on their own issues and have been in, or are currently in, individual therapy

ABOUT THE GROUP LEADER:
Ann Steiner, Ph.D., M.F.T., CGP*, is in private practice in Lafayette. She is a Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Society, was a founding member of the National Registry of Group Psychotherapists*, was president of Northern California Group Psychotherapy Society for whom she has given workshop annually for 20 years. She co-led the first therapy group for therapists in Northern California in the 1980's.

Dr. Steiner is an Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Psychiatry, University of California Medical School, San Francisco and is on the faculty of the Group Therapy Training Program for The Psychotherapy Institute, Berkely. She lectures at professional meetings nationally and locally, and writes for consumers and therapists. She has been leading psychotherapy groups for 26 years, supervises, trains and consults to therapists.

I am a certified group psychotherapist and have been leading psychotherapy groups for over 26 years, as well as supervise, train and consult to therapists in the SF Bay Area. I am a Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Society, was a founding member of the National Registry of Group Psychotherapists, and was president of Northern California Group Psychotherapy Society, In 2008 I was appointed Co-Chair the American Group Psychotherapy Association's Medical Illness Special Interest Group.

I am currently a faculty member of The Psychotherapy Institute's Group Therapy Training Program where I led their first process training group, and was active as an Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Psychiatry, University of California Medical School, San Francisco for 20 years, present regularly for the Northern California Group Psychotherapy Society, train group therapists, lecture at professional meetings nationally and locally, and write for consumers and therapists. I pioneered and have over 20 articles published about the Therapist’s Professional Will.

I specialize in relationship issues, chronic medical illness and use a blend of psychodynamic and systems orientation approaches.
